It’s only December 1st, but I already feel like I’m falling behind on the the holiday planning. I didn’t do any Black Friday or Cyber Monday shopping, heck I haven’t started any Christmas shopping at all! I haven’t even made the darn list yet, never mind checking it twice…
The holiday season started off pretty great last week with Thanksgiving in Connecticut with members from both our families. My brother-in-law and his girlfriend-now-fiance got engaged right before so we had even more to celebrate and be thankful for!
My sister joined me and Ross for the annual Turkey Trot in Mystic AND even took the dip with me (video evidence can be found on her Instagram). Jumping in the ocean in 30*F weather is normal, right? If not normal, cold water swimming does at least have some health benefits – here’s 6 of them.
In my last post I mentioned I was doing a 10 day “cleanse” of sorts. It was really hard to stick to during this time of year, but I did my best and actually felt really good despite the fact that my diet wasn’t “perfect” and that I had a few drinks with friends. It’s all about progress, not perfection, and small changes over time can equal big results. For instance that turkey trot time of sub 9 min/miles was progress for this runner who has been stuck at 10-11 min/miles the past several months!
In this fast paced world the Christmas decorations start to come out before you can even digest your Halloween candy. Don’t get me wrong, I love the extended holiday cheer and instead of worrying where I think I should be ex. tree up and decorated, shopping done and treats made, I’m going to try to enjoy right were I am and focus more on being present than giving or receiving presents (though I plan on doing plenty of the latter too).
